What Caught My Eye This Week

This Week

Live! Live the wonderful life that is in you! Let nothing be lost upon you. Be always searching for new sensations. Be afraid of nothing. – Oscar Wilde

Today is St. Patrick’s Day and the photo above is one that I took last October at the Cliffs of Moher on my vacation in Ireland.  It’s a breath taking place that made me realize how in the big picture I am really quite small.

Snapchat came under heavy fire for an ad promoting an app that mocked domestic violence. The offensive ad asked whether people would want to slap Rihanna or punch Chris Brown. Rihanna called them out on Instagram, saying, “I’d love to call it ignorance but I know you ain’t that dumb!”

When will United Airlines ever get it right? This week they mistakenly sent a dog to Japan – instead of Kansas and in another incident a French Bull Dog died when a flight attendant made the owner stow it in the overhead compartment. While they have apologized for these incidents, how can anyone trust them if flying with a pet?

The Center for Ethical Leadership at the University of Notre Dame share a blog post exploring anger at work. What was interesting for me was that, “moral anger can give you the courage to stand up and speak out about what is right”. They do clarify that other types of anger can be harmful to you and your organization.

What I’m listening to.
